In various books there is a speculation around why Gurdjieff ’s car accident in July 1924 occurred. The suggestion that what befell Gurdjieff could have been “accidental” (in the sense of his being under the Law of Accident) is absurd given his level of being. However, he is stating here that he does not (at the time he wrote the words) know why it came about. It is enigmatic.
