I had always thought there was some agreement between Ouspensky and Gurdjieff about this book. This seems to indicate otherwise.

It is, of course, about that particular book.

Ouspensky published The Fourth Way which covers all the same material. It’s also the case that some of the ideas in In Search of the Miraculous (towards the end) are Ouspensky’s own ideas about the relationship between cosmoses.

Our planet Earth clearly symbolizes Personality here.

This is a difficult section, from my perspective at least. It requires that we understand the nature of “atmospheres.” Gurdjieff refers to these frequently. In this part of the text, he declares Elekilpomagtistzen to be a substance, which should make us ponder what this substance actually is. It must be a hydrogen of some kind. If so it’s interaction with an atmosphere must, by the Law of Three, lead to the transformation of that atmosphere.

The “wings” he mentions possibly symbolize the intellect. Right now it is not clear to me what the “gas” and “fog” are. Nevertheless, with the application of attention and high energies, we can resolve the confusion that sometimes surrounds us.

The topic of Mentation by Thought and the language associated with it, is discussed in depth in In Search of the Miraculous, where Gurdjieff talks about Universal languages.
