To Fathom The Gist
In The Tales, Gurdjieff exhorts his readers to read his writings in three different ways, with the following words:
“Read each of my written expositions thrice:
Firstly—at least as you have already become mechanized to read all your contemporary books and newspapers. Secondly—as if you were reading aloud to another person. And only thirdly—try and fathom the gist of my writings.”
This site is primarily devoted to assisting its visitors to read his written works in the third way …
The Third Striving
The Third Obligolnian Striving is:
…the conscious striving to know ever more and more concerning the laws of World-creation and World-maintenance
To support this striving, this site also assists its visitors in their efforts to understand Objective Science.
The Genesis of the Site
This site was created by and is maintained by The Austin Gurdjieff Society. It was born of the need to support virtual group meetings both for readings of Gurdjieff’s written works and for the study of Objective Science.
Mission
This site is not governed by anything so grandiose as a mission. It simply does its best to assist visitors who are genuine seekers after truth. That assistance consists entirely in sharing information that might possibly be turned into knowledge by the recipient.
