“Roll Your Triangle”

~Jane Heap

Dear ALL

Have we all noticed the descent of mankind in the modern age?  Do we not sense a growing air of negativity in the sphere of man? The relentless march of technology, rather than elevating us, diminishes our very humanity. We are increasingly alienated from the natural world, cocooned in artificial environments and connected by digital threads that paradoxically foster isolation rather than genuine community. The constant barrage of information, ever trivial and sensationalized, dulls our critical faculties.  Attention spans wane, replaced by a craving for instant gratification, making sustained intellectual or creative endeavors feel like arduous and hopeless tasks.

The erosion of traditional values and institutions has opened up a yawning void. A pervasive sense of moral relativism and a rejection of objective truth have brought a loss of meaning and purpose. The pursuit of material wealth and fleeting pleasures overshadows spiritual or philosophical inquiry, leaving individuals adrift in a sea of consumerism and emotional poverty. The grand narratives that once gave structure and significance to human existence have fragmented, replaced by a cacophony of individual desires and anxieties, ultimately leading to a sense of nihilism.

Behold the twenty-first century – now a burgeoning century of wars that calls to mind the words of Stephen Benét:

Oh, where are you coming from, soldier, gaunt soldier,
With weapons beyond any reach of my mind,
With weapons so deadly the world must grow older
And die in its tracks, if it does not turn kind?

Okidanokh

Okidanokh is one of the more confusing words that Gurdjieff uses in The Tales. He refers to it as the “Omnipresent-Active-Element”, clearly declaring it to be everywhere and playing an active role in the Universe. It plays the pivotal role in the creation and maintenance of everything in the Universe.

As explained in the chapter Purgatory, at the time of the creation the Absolute emits a particular vibration (I tend to think of…

The Quest

You can distill existence down to just three fundamental questions:
• What resides within my inner world?
• What comprises this immense universe, of which I am but an infinitesimal speck?
• And ultimately, what am I?
There are two distinct factions of humanity. Those driven by a relentless pursuit of truth, and those who have simply capitulated.

Logical Fallacies

The study of logical fallacies is worthwhile for those who wish to exercise their intellectual center. And it is worth doing to identify the Hasnammusian methods that are so frequently used by those who wish to bamboozle weaker minds. You will no doubt recognize many of these.
Fallacies of Personal Attack
This collection of fallacies attempt to discredit an argument by attacking the person presenting it, or by shifting the focus away from the actual issue. Very common.
