The Creation, Perhaps

Okidanokh is one of the more confusing words that Gurdjieff uses in The Tales. He refers to it as the “Omnipresent-Active-Element”, clearly declaring it to be everywhere and playing an active role in the Universe. It plays the pivotal role in the creation and maintenance of everything in the Universe.

As explained in the chapter Purgatory, at the time of the creation the Absolute emits a particular vibration (I tend to think of it as a “word” but as a musical chord, although it would be equally valid to think of it as a set of vibrations.) And according to the text, this combines with Etherokrilno (the substance with which all space, even the space beyond the Absolute, is said to consist) This combination gives rise to Okidanokh.

Having said that, we can assert the following:

Origin and Nature:

  • Okidanokh obtains its prime arising from the three holy sources of the sacred Theomertmalogos (the prime emanation of the Most Holy Sun Absolute)
  • It is crystallized from the primary cosmic substance Etherokrilno but is unique in that it forms from all three independent sacred parts of the Triamazikamno (the fundamental cosmic law consisting of three independent forces: Holy-Affirming, Holy-Denying, and Holy-Reconciling)

Key Properties:

  1. Djartklom Process: When Okidanokh enters any cosmic formation, it immediately undergoes “Djartklom” – splitting into its three fundamental parts. These separated parts then become sources for independent formations within that cosmic unit.
  2. Blending and Transformation: The separated parts of Okidanokh maintain their ability to reblend into a whole. During this process, various cosmic phenomena occur, including the formation of atmospheric and planetary conditions.
  3. Vibration and Transformation: Through the sacred process called “Aieioiuoa”, Okidanokh can temporarily separate and reform, releasing pure Etherokrilno in the process. This characteristic helps connect and maintain various cosmic elements.

(We note here that cosmic formations are living beings – whether suns, planets, people, plants or bacteria.)

Functions:

  • Participates in the formation of all cosmic concentrations, both large and small
  • Acts as a key factor in atmospheric phenomena
  • Serves as a fundamental element in the transformation of cosmic substances
  • Enables the actualization of the “Most Great common-cosmic Trogoautoegocrat” (the cosmic process of reciprocal maintenance)

The significance of Okidanokh extends to its role in three-brained beings, where it enters through food and undergoes transformation through what is called “being-Partkdolg-duty.” Its proper functioning is essential for the development of higher being bodies and conscious reasoning.

Understanding Okidanokh and its properties was considered crucial for cosmic science, as demonstrated by the experiments conducted by Gornahoor Harharkh on Saturn, which showed how this substance could be artificially separated and reblended to study its effects.

This cosmic substance represents the most fundamental element in the universe’s functioning, serving as both a creative and maintaining force in all cosmic formations and processes. Its unique properties of separation, transformation, and reblending make it essential to the cosmic order and the development of consciousness in beings.

Gurdjieff asserts that through the proper understanding and use of Okidanokh, beings could potentially achieve higher states of consciousness and contribute to the cosmic purpose of maintaining and perfecting the Universe. However, this knowledge and its proper application are considered sacred and are carefully preserved and transmitted by those with the appropriate level of being-reason.

So it is…
